As cities grow and prices skyrocket, the demand for affordable housing is also on the rise. Since the 1972 Pruitt-Igoe collapse, architects and urban planners have begun to rethink the traditional approach to affordable housing: uniform, colorless, high-rise, and high-density. These days, approaching affordable housing is no longer one-size-fits-all.
Aesthetics, residents’ needs, and environmental impact are all being taken into consideration.
